A Delicate Repair.

In this work I am looking at Japanese philosophy with emphasis especially on the words Kintsugi (golden repair) the art of repairing Japanese broken pottery with gold and thus appreciating the strength and beauty in imperfection, it is a metaphor for the human experience. Shibui; a simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty; and Wabi Sabi; the beauty of all things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. These are the antithesis of our classic western notion of beauty as something perfect, enduring and monumental.

I have been searching for a way to transfer the intangible into a series of images.

In ‘A Delicate Repair’ I am using a combination of straight photography and college, revisiting images and reworking them along with the use of an intuitive process, I am stitching together emotions and memories.
